A practical 2 stage/day course for land managers and their advisors covering essential apspects of wet grassland management and restoration, from the early assessment stages, through to practical implementation of works.

Hosted at the RSPB's own arable farm, where farmland birds have been increased by 89% in just seven years, this course will explain how to maximise farm wildlife conservation on an arable farm: how to determine which species to focus on, putting together the right package of measures, and how to manage them to get the best results for the farmer and the wildlife.

This technical and interactive course, at the largest reedbed restoration site in the UK, will cover aspects of site restoration planning and design for reedbeds, including the early years of establishment and management.

Mixed farms offer many ways to provide habitats for wildlife. Find out how to determine which species to focus on, put together the right package of measures, and how to manage them to get the best results for the farmer and the wildlife.

The workshop will be an opportunity to review current wet grassland management practices and see the RSPB's Rotary Ditcher machine in action. We will cover all aspects of deploying and using the machine, drawing upon RSPB research of habitat design, and bird usage of features, and provide would be users with a thorough understanding of it’s capabilities and applicability in habitat creation and restoration projects.

An interactive training/workshop event held in liaison with The Broads Reed & Sedge Cutters Association (BRSCA), which will provide delegates with an opportunity to learn about, and discuss, current and future reed and fen management practices.
