Hi, I have been told that Skylarks in Denmark generally dont manage to complete a breeding cycle in oilseed rape -Is this the case in the UK?
Thanks
Chas

I remember that in the late 90s the latest research was showing that skylarks would hold territories in WOSR, but would rarely nest there (Wilson et al, 1997 Journal of Applied Ecology 34, and Wakeham-Dawson et al, 1998 Journal of Applied Ecology 35). On the site where I did a little skylark research none of the 24 nests were in WOSR, despite it making up nearly 20% of the area.

Thanks for the info and the references.
Is there anything one can do to make the oilseed rape crop more attractive to skylarks or would that be a bad idea in he long run?
